The shooting of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin has weighed heavily on people’s minds

for already a little over a month now. Nas sat down for an interview with Hot 97’s Angie Martinez in promotion of “The Don” on Wednesday, during which he spoke about the tragic incident and why he shows his support for the slain teenager (via Rap-Up).

“You never wanna hear that kind of news,” he said. “When it happens, you remember how many Trayvon incidents happen every day all over the world and have been happening. It doesn’t seem like the race problem will ever get solved. There’s a sickness that needs healing that this guy [George] Zimmerman is dealing with. And all the Zimmermans around the world, they’re dealing with hatred, ignorance, sickness, and they’re living in fear so I’m rocking my hoodie for my man.”

Nas isn’t the only one voicing off about the Trayvon Martin case. MTV caught up with Game, Young Jeezy, 50 Cent and others to see what they had to say about the incident.

“I think from the beginning of mankind, we as a people have always been targeted,” Game said. “For some reason, people don’t think that they need any excuse to kill us, beat us, hit us, run us over, disrespect us or anything like that. There’s always some negative occurrence that goes on in our existence, and this is just another reminder that stupidity still exists.”
